Dirty Dozen Races 2015 - "London South"

The founder of this event series is Doug 'The Beard,' Spence. I was quite eager to meet him after watching many of his obstacle tutorials. The video for getting over walls in particular has made a huge difference in my approach to OCR events, saving me energy in using my legs as oppose to my arms. On more than one occasion I've had positive comments from fellow racers on my wall technique. There's also The Beard's technique for getting over the Irish Table which left spectators watching really confused as to what just happened!
So as you can see in the picture below I was just a tad over excited to meet one of the legends of OCR, The Beard.

There are loads of obstacles on this race, but I've just picked a few of the highlights here:

Picture
Floating Barrels. A river to swim down but there are four sets of barrels in the way, duck under them to get past. This ones leaves you with brain freeze!
Picture
Irish Table. A big table for you to get up and over. I think doing this using The Beard's method of feet over first made this one more fun, more so the reaction from everyone else seeing you use this unconventional method.
Picture
Log Carry. It's not the first time I've carried a log in OCR, but it's definitely the longest course I had to carry one for. The logs aren't too heavy and in fact was useful in helping me get up the muddy trenches. It was funny watching everyone carry the logs as it reminded me of the old PC game The Settlers.
Picture
Pet Tyre. (the name I've given it). One of my favourites as the course we had to navigate with our tyre with quite challenging. Similar to Log Carry with lots of mud and ditches to drag your rubber through.
Picture
Tarzan Bars. I've completed this before at Tough Mudder last year, it looks very similar but today was not my day for it. This picture shows me three quarters of the way, just before I sploshed.
Picture
Mud Trenches. There were a lot of this. In fact it was in the Pet Tyre and Log Carry too. These obstacles were tough because there was so little to hold on to. A good team effort helped you through.
Picture
Big Walls. This is the final obstacle, a ten foot wall. We were given a helping hand with the two ledges at the bottom. It took me three attempts to tackles this on my own, however in this photo François does it on his first attempt.
